Zhejiang University - University of Cambridge Talked about "Humanised animal model" to Promote the Development of the Discipline

From March 28th to 29th Beijing time, Prof. XU Xiao, President of?Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and his group were invited to attend the “UK Humanised Mouse Symposium 2022”hosted by the University of Cambridge. The theme was "Construction and application of Humanised Mouse Model". The conference was attended by experts and scholars from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the University of Southampton, Zhejiang University, Hannover Medical School, the Jackson Laboratory, Francis Crick Institute, Key Laboratory of Integrated Oncology and Intelligent Medicine of Zhejiang Province, and other international top universities and research institutions. Graduate students from Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University also attended online learning.

The humanized mouse model can effectively simulate the tumor immune microenvironment in vivo, which is one of the important tools for the development of new tumor immune therapy. Prof. XU Xiao's group has accumulated experience in the construction and application of PDX and organoid models. So far, more than 50 PDX models of liver cancer with diverse molecular characteristics have been established, providing an important platform for molecular typing research of liver cancer therapy and facilitating clinical transformation and precision therapy. This conference shared the experience in the construction of humanized mouse models, the frontier progress and clinical application in the fields of tumor, infectious diseases and regenerative medicine, and discussed the application direction and pending problems of mouse models in tumor immunotherapy in the future.

The pursuit of win-win cooperation is the new normal of the development of international top disciplines. In recent years, the exchanges and cooperation between Prof. XU Xiao's group and the world's top universities and research groups, such as the University of Cambridge have been continuously expanding and deepening, further promoting the construction of high-level scientific research innovation platform, creating academic frontier highland, enabling the development of disciplines to have sustained power and source, and better serving the construction of world-class disciplines!
