The Department of Digestive Oncology of the Hangzhou First People’s Hospital affiliated to the Medical College of Zhejiang University is a comprehensive department integrating tumor chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and thermotherapy. It is an important part of the peak discipline of medicine in Hangzhou. In addition, relying on integration oncology and precision medicine laboratory, it is also a national GCP clinical trial base. The construction of the talent team of departments is reasonable, including health innovation talents in Zhejiang Province, medical rookies in Zhejiang Province, "151" outstanding young and middle-aged second-level talents in Zhejiang Province in the new century, and "131" outstanding young and middle-aged key-level talents in Hangzhou. Hangzhou top ten outstanding young people, Hangzhou outstanding scientific and technological workers, Hangzhou Youth Science and Technology Award winners and so on. A number of experts serve as vice chairmen or members in the Special Committee of Oncology Nutrition and support Therapy of China Anti-Cancer Association, MDT Special Committee of Colorectal Oncology of Chinese Medical Association, Clinical Epidemiology Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Cancer targeting Technology Branch of Chinese Biomedical Engineering Society, Oncology Branch of Zhejiang Medical Association, Cancer Internal Medicine Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, Cancer Biotherapy Special Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, Academic organizations such as the Cancer targeting and Cell Therapy Special Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, the Colorectal Cancer Special Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, and the Anti-Cancer Drug Special Committee of Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association.

The clinical technical ability of the hospital is outstanding, and it has reached the domestic advanced level in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic malignant tumors, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer and other solid malignant tumors. In the meanwhile, there are more in-depth studies on the comprehensive treatment of bone and brain metastasis of malignant tumors in the nutritional treatment of various advanced cancers, the control of cancerous pain and malignant pleural and ascites. Members of the department have reported and communicated at ASCO, ESMO, CSCO and other oncology conferences at home and abroad for many times. The team won the champion of the first Hangzhou MDT case Competition in 2019, and contributed to the promotion of MDT in Zhejiang Province and Hangzhou, and improved the level of multidisciplinary comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract tumors in our hospital by holding the West Lake Forum on Digestive tract Oncology and the national continuing education class on Multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of Digestive tract Oncology every year. The development direction of the department is to carry out translational medical research such as individualized targeted drugs and biological immunotherapy for malignant tumors on the basis of standardized treatment of tumors and multidisciplinary MDT.

The Department of Digestive Oncology is the training place for postgraduates of Zhejiang University, Nanjing Medical University and Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University. In addition, it undertakes the relevant clinical teaching and training of postgraduates in oncology. At the same time, it is also a standardized training base for residents in Hangzhou, undertaking the standardized training of residents. In recent years, this department has presided over more than 20 scientific research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province, the Department of Science and Technology of Zhejiang Province, and major health science and technology projects in Hangzhou. A number of innovative achievements have attracted the attention of counterparts at home and abroad. Besides, the department has won more than 10 prizes, such as Zhejiang Science and Technology Progress Award, Zhejiang Natural Science academic Award, Zhejiang Medicine and Health Science and Technology Award, Hangzhou Science and Technology Progress Award, Hangzhou Natural Science academic Award, Hangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Award. Moreover, this department has published dozens of SCI and Chinese series papers. Three national invention patents have been authorized, and 3 patents are under declaration.Besides, thisdepartment has written many monographs. As a lead researcher, the department is responsible for a number of multicenter clinical studies at home and abroad.
