Endocrinology Department

Endocrinology and Metabolism Department of Hangzhou First People's Hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University school of medicine is a regional clinical center of diabetes and endocrine diseases in Hangzhou city. Of 37 staff, some professors in our department are leaders in local and provincial academic association, they are actively working on clinical job, scientific research and medical education.

The department offers comprehensive multidisciplinary diabetes care, continues glucose monitor system, insulin pump program, peripheral vessel examination system and education programs. Our goal is to help patients integrate optimal diabetes management into their everyday lives and deal with complicated clinical situations of diabetes related diseases. Obesity grows nationwide, and many metabolic diseases follows obesity. our department provides comprehensive management of obesity and obesity related diseases.  

High quality services for patients of other endocrine diseases referring to thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal and sex gonad also provided by our department. Fine needle aspiration and molecular marker detection in differentiation of thyroid nodal has been performed for many years, gene sequence analysis for diagnosis of rare disease also conducted routinely. So far, some rarely seen diseases have been reported by our department, such as 17 a-hydroxylase/17,20-lyase deficiency, auto-immune disease induced Hypophosphatemic osteomalacia, menstruation related Intermittent porphyria, de novo CASR mutation induced hypocalciuric hypercalcemia, HGPRT1 mutation induced Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.
