Biography

Prof. XU Xiao, M.D., Ph.D., is the president of Affiliated Hangzhou First People’s Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He also holds the Yangtze River Scholar, NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar, Ten Thousand Talent Program, Highest-level Expert of Zhejiang Province and Zhejiang University “Qiushi” Professor.

Professor Xu has served as a HBP and liver transplant surgeon for 24 years in the Department of Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery. In 2001 and 2006, he went to Queen Mary Hospital (Hong Kong SAR, China) and Kiel University (Germany) as a visiting scholar. He is skilled at the diagnosis and treatment of common and complicated diseases in the HBP field, especially in hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors, liver transplantation for end-stage liver disease, complicated hepatolithiasis, pancreatitis and portal hypertension. He also established a new molecular stratification system for HCC recipient selection and prognosis prediction in liver transplantation. For his outstanding work, he was elected the Vice President of Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation as well as the Head of Liver Transplantation Program and Deputy Chair as well as Director-General of Chinese College of Transplant’s Doctors.
